ABOUT
our passion
KitchenLab has 20+ years of experience Doing What We Love - designing kitchens and adjacent spaces that combine lived-in, inviting ambiance with modern functionality.
What could be better than a background in hospitality and restaurants for a kitchen design firm? KitchenLab’s founders, Rebekah Zaveloff and Nick Nicols met while working in the hospitality business and discovered a complementary approach to design. They started building KitchenLab more than 20 years ago by combining design experience with hospitality know-how. Our projects range from expansive kitchen-plus-adjacent-room renovations to kitchen-only designs in historic homes as well as new builds.
The KitchenLab team designs every project to look beautiful, comforting, and inviting – like a great restaurant you never want to leave. The portability of working from home or kids doing homework while you cook means that today’s kitchens often serve multiple functions in addition to cooking, dining and entertaining. Designing integrated areas that serve a family’s needs, and problem-solving with innovative ideas, are KitchenLab specialties.
OUR STYLE
Patina, vintage touches, pattern mixes, hand finishes and more make a space designed by KitchenLab One-of-A-Kind.
We notice things, like how we might enhance privacy by transforming a window with stained glass, organize a pantry into a second prep space, or add a powder room to save a trip upstairs. A kitchen should look beautiful, and our designs do, but KitchenLab never forgets the people who live there and how they want to live – comfortably, with ease and with a sense of anticipation for good things to come.
KITCHENLAB INTRODUCES . . .
As KitchenLab celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2024, founders Rebekah Zaveloff and Nick Nichols announce a new sister company - Imparfait Design Studio.
The new Studio came to life as a result of our clients requesting that KitchenLab design their complete home environments. And while Imparfait Design Studio offers full home design and KitchenLab focuses on kitchens, they share the same hospitality-based design principles - ambiance that invites people to linger in meticulously designed, unique settings. If your design needs extend beyond the kitchen, we invite you to visit Imparfait Design Studio.
